Our Campus
ECLA's close-kint residential campus is located in the Pankow neighborhood of the former East Berlin. The buildings comprise eight renovated former embassies to the German Democratic Republic, each with a wonderful garden. The buildings, designed in the neo-Bauhaus style by Eckart Schmidt, now function as comfortable dorms, spacious teaching offices, a library, studios and performance space, and administrative buildings.
Cafeteria and Dining
The ECLA cafeteria, run by the school’s chef Stefan Will, serves three meals a day to ECLA students as part of their room and board package. Students and faculty alike rave about the meals, which include gourmet versions of classic German dishes as well as other cuisines, and always contain a vegetarian option. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of the excellent culinary scene in Berlin. Further, between ECLA and downtown Berlin is Pankow center, with a variety of restaurants and cafés.
Fitness Facilities
ECLA students, faculty, and staff have free access to the SPOK Fitness Centre, which is located at Nordendstrasse 56, about 15 minutes walking distance from the student houses. All fitness activities except tennis lessons are free of charge. Our gymnasium and fitness facilities offer a gym with exercise machines, fitness classes, tennis, badminton, a soccer field, a running track, basketball, volleyball, and a sauna.
