Safety and Security in Berlin
During program orientation, students will be given information on which areas of the city to avoid after dark and how to conduct themselves safely during national holidays, protests, and on public transportation. U.S. citizens traveling abroad should view the
Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs website for any updates or alerts regarding travel to the region.
Insurance Information
Bard College students enrolled in the college's student health insurance plan have global coverage for the duration of their time in Berlin. Students from other institutions or who have opted out of the Bard student health insurance plan should consult program staff regarding insurance requirements.
All participants in Bard College study abroad programs are covered by the College's emergency evacuation insurance plan.
Health Care Resources
A physician visits ECLA on a weekly basis to attend to routine medical consultation and is also available for off-campus consultations. Students also have access to the services of a professional counselor. Information about nearby pharmacies and clinics is provided at ECLA of Bard.
