Master of Music Degree in Conducting

The Conductors Institute offers a master of music degree in a 15-month program that consists of two summer institutes and an academic-year course of study in the Bard Conservatory. The M. Music program features the following components:

  • Master classes in technical score study and analysis with Maestro Farberman
  • Podium time, including
    • Class sessions with the Institute String Quintet
    • Conducting opportunities with orchestra and chorus
    • Two summer institutes
    • Completion concert with the Institute Orchestra
  • Class study in -
    • Composition
    • Basic orchestra repertoire
    • Languages
    • A "second" instrument (string or piano)
    • Solfège

Tuition and fees in 2006–07 totaled $16,666. Fees include a $100 registration fee each semester, a $110 graduation fee charged prior to graduation, and a $500 health services fee. Summer health insurance coverage is available for an additional fee.
