Valon Xharra is from Pristina, the capital of Kosovo.

Each year thousands of students from all over the world choose to study at a residential college of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the United States. Bard has a long tradition of enrolling international students, recognizing that a significantly diverse population greatly enriches the Bard experience. Over 16% of our students and 18% of our faculty are of non-US origin.

Why is this type of education so important?
A private college of the Liberal Arts and Sciences is a type of institution that exists only in the United States. These institutions are based on the idea that to successfully participate in the global workplace students need to study across a broad spectrum of subjects. They should be able to think critically and make connections among disciplines across the sciences and humanities. This program of study offers both breadth and depth. A degree from a rigorous college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the preferred preparation for students wishing to enter competitive graduate programs in business, medicine, doctoral research or law. Most prominent corporate executives and international political figures have graduated from a college of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Founded in 1860, Bard College is today one of the leading Liberal Arts and Sciences colleges in the country. It is celebrated for it’s strength of faculty resources and a nine to one student to faculty ratio.
