How do I find a tutor and what kinds of tutoring are offered?
Contact the Coordinator of the English Language Program, Denise Minin, at dminin@bard.edu or in person at the Learning Commons. Personal tutors are available for most needs, such as writing, reading, grammar, speaking/pronunciation/ listening, and note-taking.

Who are the tutors?
Trained Bard students.

Do I have to pay for tutoring?
No. All tutoring is free.

Is tutoring available during the Language and Thinking program (L&T) in August? During Citizen Science?
Yes. And yes.

What if I don't have a TOEFL score? Can I still register for your courses or tutoring services?
Whether or not you have a TOEFL score, you can register for our courses and request tutoring.

Can I take the TOEFL or IELTS test at Bard?
Yes, we offter the TOEFL ITP paper-based test at no charge for students registered in an English Language Program course, or for $22 for students who are not in an ELP course. The testing takes place at the beginning of the fall semeser and at the end of the spring semester or upon request by groups.

What if I already have an accepted TOEFL score?
Whether you have an accepted TOEFL score or not, you are welcome to register for any of our courses or services at your request. We offer services and classes for all levels of fluency, from beginner to advanced.
