Eban Goodstein

Economics and the Environment, (John Wiley and Sons, 2010) now in its sixth edition;
Fighting for Love in the Century of Extinction: How Passion and Politics Can Stop Global Warming (University Press of New England, 2007); and
The Trade-off Myth: Fact and Fiction about Jobs and the Environment (Island Press, 1999). Articles by Goodstein have appeared in, among other outlets,
The Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Land Economics, Ecological Economics, and
Environmental Management. His research has been featured in
The New York Times, Scientific American, Time, Chemical and Engineering News, The Economist, USA Today, and
The Chronicle of Higher Education. He serves on the editorial board of
Sustainability: The Journal of Record, and
Environment, Workplace and Employment, and is on the steering committee of Economics for Equity and the Environment. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Follett Corporation, and is on the advisory committee for Chevrolet's Clean Energy Initiative. In addition Goodstein directs two national educational initiatives on global warming: Campus to Congress
(C2C) Fellows and The National Climate Seminar. In recent years, he has coordinated climate education events at over 2,500 colleges, universities, high schools, and other institutions across the country.
Andrea Spender
Assistant Director and Faculty
MPA Candidate, New York University, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service; MLIS, University of Western Ontario; B.S., University of Guelph. Prior to joining Bard College, Andrea led Corporate Research and Programs at the National Council for Research on Women, a National research and advocacy non-profit. Prior to this, she was an Instructor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s School of Management, where she taught curriculum-integrated research modules in the MS in Management, MBA, and Executive MBA programs. Andrea also spent four years at McKinsey & Company, where she specialized in knowledge management and health care, and was a researcher in the Investment Banking group of Bank of Montreal (now BMO Capital Markets).
Katie Van Sant
Assistant Director of Admissions
M.S., Environmental Policy, Bard College; B.A., Political Science, Montana State University. After finishing her M.S. from the Bard Center for Environmental Policy and working on numerous political and social campaigns, Katie acted as a consultant with the United Nations Development Programme. At UNDP, she supported programs addressing the threats of climate change to developing countries. Katie next took a position as the Director of Sustainability and Partnerships at the green start-up she had helped launch during her time at Bard, Clean Air Lawn Care, as it began a national franchise sales campaign. In this position, Katie negotiated and managed strategic commercial and governmental partnerships, oversaw sustainability compliance, recruited franchise owners, and coordinated a national branding and marketing campaign. She most recently worked in new media marketing and PR 2.0 before returning to Bard College to coordinate the launch of the MBA in Sustainability.
