Housing Information
Student On-Campus Housing The fee for single student housing is $1,276 for the 2008 eight-week session (available from June 6 - August 3). Students will again be housed in the Ravine Houses (new toasters) and Williams. Each student receives a private room with shared bath in an air-conditioned residence hall. Common kitchen and laundry facilities are located on the first floor. Ethernet ports (you'll need to provide your own cable--it's not wireless) and phone jacks (you have to provide your own phone) are available in each room. Most rooms include two twin beds; some have only one twin bed. Students must bring their own bed and bath linens and cookware. Dormitories are located near Bard's campus center and are convenient to all MFA facilities. Dorms are usually coed; depending on student requests, one dorm may be designated as "quiet." Short-term guests (up to 3 days at a time) are permitted in the dorms as long as it doesn't negatively impact your dormmates. Family housing is extremely limited in availabity, and is only an option for students bringing partners and children with them for the whole summer. The cost for family housing is $2,000 for the summer term. (If non air-conditioned housing is provided, the cost of family housing will be reduced to $1,750.) Families will be housed either in a small dorm, shared with other MFA families, or in a house on campus, also shared. Each family will have their own bathroom and bedroom(s) but will share kitchen, living and laundry space. We will again be hiring 2nd and 3rd year students as dorm head-residents. Head-residents must arrive on Friday, June 6 and stay until August 3. Head-residents receive a 50% discount on the housing fee in exchange for their work. Student On-Campus Housing Request Form Faculty On-Campus Housing Faculty on-campus housing is provided free of charge. Faculty will be housed this year in the Village Dorm suites (three bedrooms sharing a kitchenette, dining/living area and bathroom, A/C) and Gahagen (non A/C multi-bedroom house). Limited family housing (for faculty members with children) is available; couples will be housed in double rooms in a suite with at least one other faculty member. Faculty dorms are stocked with cookware and dinnerware, bedding (pillow, blanket, sheets), and towels. Sheets and towels are changed weekly. You may want to bring your own blankets if you have the tendency to get cold while sleeping, as the provided blankets are rather thin.
