with Artistic Director Prof. Pak I Nyoman Suadin
Presenting an evening of traditional and new works for Balinese Gamelan Gong Kebyar ensemble, including two World Premieres of compositions written specifically for the ensembles by Pak Suadin and Ibu Sue Pilla respectively; the dances Margapati and Topeng Keras; a mini-lecture on Balinese Culture and Arts by Dr. I Made Bandem with Pak Bill Ylitalo; a Gender Wayang interlude; a Kecak or Monkey Chant demonstration; and an opening procession.
Of special note: This will the Bandems' final performance at Bard College with the Hudson Valley Gamelans as they have completed their US residencies and will soon be making their way home to Bali. Please join us as we wish them a warm and heartfelt farewell on behalf of Bard College and the Hudson Valley!
Tickets available at the door only. Doors open at 7:30 pm.
Suggested donation $10. Free for Bard students, staff, faculty, and children 16 and under.
