Music Program Presents
Composers Forum - David Garland
Monday, April 24, 2017
Blum N217
4:45 pm EDT/GMT-4
David Garland is a wildly inventive singer/songwriter and composer, as likely to accompany himself with a piece of styrofoam and a toy piano as with high-end electronics, and everything in-between; also an audio and radio producer, presenter, programmer, editor, and mixer; an illustrator, photographer, and graphic designer; and a music journalist. His wide-ranging musical activities coalesced in 1980 with his "Control Songs," an on-going project that blends and bends songs and experimentalism. He has performed and recorded his music with Sufjan Stevens, Sean Lennon, Christian Marclay, Ikue Mori, John Zorn, Vashti Bunyan, Meredith Monk, and Iva Bittova, among others, and has released several albums. At Basilica Hudson's 24-HOUR DRONE on April 29 Garland will premier "Lux Temporalis," a piece from his long-form, 4-hour album "Verdancy," which will be published during 2017. 4:45 pm EDT/GMT-4
