Electronic Music: Diagram of Mutation Trajectories
Blum HallThe concert is a survey of contemporary directions in generative, video, and algorithmically-scored pieces. The event features guest performers from SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Oneonta, and the Hartt School of Music working in collaboration with Bard student musicians. The program includes Larry Polansky's landmark post-minimalist algorithmic guitar duo, "51 Melodies," along with new works by Dani Dobkin (Bard/Columbia), Matt Sargent (Bard), Andrew C. Smith (UC-Santa Cruz), Ryan Ross Smith (SUNY Oneonta).
Performers include Gemma Godfrey, Ken Winfield, and Matt Sargent, along with special guests Julie Licata, Rob Cosgrove, and Thomas Schuttenhelm.
From the virtuosically-notated to open-scored, slow drone to fast and loud, single spoken voice to clockwork-like ensemble counterpoint, the concert contains a multitude of possible trajectories of engagement between technology and performers.
Free and open to the public.
