Roundtable
Discussion: On Exile, February 16, 2001
Bard College will host a roundtable discussion featuring
Chinua Achebe, Norman Manea, and André Aciman, moderated
by Robert Kelly. This free event will be held on Friday, February
16 at 7:00 p.m. in Olin Auditorium.
The
Workshop, February 16–18, 2001
As phase one of the conference a three-day closed workshop. The
format of the workshop will have participants will contributing
brief papers, for the purpose of intensive discussion, especially
in the light of the differences among the states of the question
in Germany, Austria, Canada, and the US.
The
Conference, August 2002
This conference will focus on the emigration of German-speaking
intellectuals to the United States and the United Kingdom during
World War II. The conference will explore the complex intellectual and cultural effects
of exile on the work and lives of intellectuals who were forced
to flee Hitler's Germany.
