Bard College Class of 2022 Arrives for Language and Thinking Program
On Friday, August 10, the Class of 2022 arrived on Bard College’s campus for the Language and Thinking Program. The first-year students embark on their Bard education with this intensive, three-week introduction to the liberal arts and sciences. The central question of L&T 2018 is: What needs to be the case for things to be otherwise? Students will examine this question in classes supported by a series of speakers and special events, a film series, and an L&T coding component. The first-years read Jonathan Lear’s Radical Hope: Ethics in the Face of Cultural Devastation and Euripides’ The Bacchae over the summer. Works by Gertrude Stein, James Baldwin, Karl Marx, and others complement these texts. We look forward to seeing new Bardians gathered in class around campus, writing, thinking, discussing, and continuing this Bard tradition.
