Hello, The following event may be of interest to you: Transmon-phonon Coupling of Plasma Oscillations and Lattice Vibrations Wednesday, May 15, 2013 A lecture byAndrew SkinnerCandidate for the position in PhysicsIn the transmon quantum bit, or qubit, current oscillates back and forth between two superconducting islands separated by a Josephson tunnel junction. One expects from conservation of momentum and energy that the switching of the current would cause the substrate to vibrate. These quantized lattice vibrations are known as phonons. For a representative model transmon we derive the phonon emission pattern and numerically integrate the device's corresponding decoherence and relaxation rates.
