Jacobs, who was born in South Africa, is currently working on a book manuscript that explores the inter-relationship between mass media, globalization and democracy in South Africa. He has published numerous articles in Mail & Guardian (South Africa), The Nation (United States), and The Guardian (United Kingdom) on a range of topics, from contemporary South African politics to the recent death and legacy of Nelson Mandela.
