The Evolution of California’s Rooftop Solar PV Market

Bard Center for Environmental Policy is pleased to host Timothy Treadwell '07, Director of Engineering, Research and Analysis at the California Center for Sustainable Energy (www.energycenter.org), for the 1st Annual Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series. Tim oversees research designed to support effective renewable energy, electric vehicle, and energy efficiency policies and programs in California. Tim's talk will focus on California’s rooftop solar PV market, including the evolution of programs and policies designed to support adoption. He will touch on early programs going back to the late 1990’s, continue through the California Solar Initiative, and then discuss the current state of the market--including successes, failures, and challenges moving forward.Tim is an example of the MS in environmental policy in action. He says, "the multidisciplinary, thematic curriculum offered at Bard CEP was invaluable in preparing me for this work. It provided me with the tools necessary to both understand and explain the technical and policy issues driving sustainable energy markets in California."
