More than that, it points toward, as one character puts it, ‘a new vision that includes the other in the self.’ ” Andrew Ervin, The Washington PostFrench novelist Mathias Énard is the award-winning author of Zone (2008) and Street of Thieves (2012), and a translator from Persian and Arabic. He won the Prix Goncourt (France’s oldest and most prestigious literary prize) in 2015 for Compass.
