Dimitri B. Papadimitriou

Dimitri B. Papadimitriou is president of the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, executive vice president and Jerome Levy Professor of Economics at Bard College, and managing director of Bard College Berlin: A Liberal Arts University. He has been a member of the Bard faculty since 1977.

Professor Papadimitriou is a graduate of Columbia University and received a Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research. His research includes financial structure reform, fiscal and monetary policy, community development banking, employment policy, and distribution of income, wealth, and well-being. He has edited and contributed to 13 books; is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Economic AnalysisChallenge, and the Bulletin of Political Economy; has authored or coauthored numerous Levy Institute publications as well as articles in academic journals; is a book reviewer for the Cambridge Journal of Economics, Journal of Post Keynesian Economics, and Economic Journal, among other publications; and is a frequent commentator on National Public Radio. He is a past vice-chairman of the Trade Deficit Review Commission of the U.S. Congress and a former member of the Competitiveness Policy Council's Subcouncil on Capital Allocation, and has testified at committee hearings of the U.S. House and Senate on a number of occasions.
