Bard's Returning To College Program (RTCP) Helps Adults Return for Undergraduate Education on the Bard College Campus

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Bard College has established a new program designed for adults seeking to return to college to continue their undergraduate studies. Bard's Returning To College Program (RTCP), which evolved from the College's longstanding Continuing Studies Program, is designed for adults over the age of 25 who seek a cost-effective way to continue their studies in a program more comprehensively integrated into Bard's existing undergraduate curriculum.

For more than 35 years, Bard has sought to encourage adults to further their college education through its Continuing Studies Program, which has served hundreds of adult students since its inception. As a natural evolution of this popular program, Bard has now strengthened its commitment to adult education with the creation of the RTCP, which integrates returning students into Bard's undergraduate courses of study. "The program is founded on the premise that returning students benefit from a liberal arts education by participating actively in the regular undergraduate curriculum," said Mark Halsey, associate dean of the college. "At the same time, we recognize how difficult it can be to juggle adult obligations with a serious return to academic studies. To this end, we're committed to making the return to college more cost-effective for adult students and to offer academic and other types of support to those enrolled through this program."

To enroll in Bard's Returning to College Program, prospective students must be at least 25 years of age and have successfully completed some accredited college work. The new program is accepting applications for the fall 2007 semester.
