ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— The Bard College women’s swimming team has earned the distinction of Scholar All-America status from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for the fall 2017 semester. To earn the award, teams were required to post a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester. Bard’s women compiled a 3.62 GPA, the highest in the Liberty League and in the top 10 nationally for Division III teams. This is the fifth straight semester in which the Bard women’s team has earned Scholar All-America status.

“I am extremely proud of our women’s team effort, both in the pool and in the classroom,” says Bard women’s swimming team head coach John Weitz, “This is a testament to their hard work and dedication to the true meaning of ‘student athlete.’”

Bard’s women’s team is competing through February 24 in the Liberty League Championship meet in Ithaca. “I have every reason to believe that they will find the same success in the pool,” says Weitz. “They have been training for five months and this meet will be the culmination of all their focus and determination.”
