Rachel Harrison: Consider the Lobster And Other Essays

Saturday, June 27, 2009 - Sunday, December 20, 2009

The Center for Curatorial Studies and Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College (CCS Bard) presents a twofold project by the New York-based artist Rachel Harrison. Consider the Lobster, the first major comprehensive survey exhibition of large-scale installations by Harrison, encompasses a number of the autonomous sculptural and photographic works for which she is best known. In And Other Essays, Harrison collaborates with six invited artists—including Nayland Blake, Tom Burr, Harry Dodge, Alix Lambert, Allen Ruppersberg, and Andrea Zittel—to reinstall works from the Marieluise Hessel Collection in the Hessel Museum of Art. Both exhibitions are on view from June 27 through December 20, 2009. The opening reception is Saturday, June 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free; museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 1–5 p.m.
