Biography:
Alistair Reid is a New York–based concert organist, pianist, and conductor. He is director of music at St. Joseph’s Church Yorkville in Manhattan; assisting organist at Trinity Church Wall Street and the Brick Church; accompanist and organist for the Canterbury Choral Society; and member of the advisory board of the Manhattan Girls Chorus. He also maintains a busy recital schedule and has performed in many prestigious venues around the world, including Notre Dame, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the National Cathedral in Washington, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall.Reid studied music at the University of Oxford, where he was organ scholar at Hertford College, assistant organist of the University Church, and conductor of the Oxford Chamber Choir. He came to the United States after graduating from Oxford and served as organ scholar at Christ Church in Greenwich, Connecticut, while continuing his studies with Gerre Hancock at St. Thomas Church in New York. He then served as assistant director of music at Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis and associate director and director of music at Coventry Cathedral in England before returning to New York. He made his Lincoln Center debut (harpsichord and organ) with the American Symphony Orchestra and Bard Festival Chorale.
