Biography:
Carlos Bedoya is a Mexico City–based architect and cofounder of the architectural studio Productora. The studio has been involved in projects in Mexico and around the world, ranging from residential projects to public buildings. Its work has been presented at the architectural biennials of Beijing, Venice, and Chicago; in the National Art Museum of China, and in London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Productora is the recipient of numerous awards, including Young Architects Forum and Emerging Voices honors from the Architectural League of New York; the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize for emerging architects; American Architecture Prize in Cultural Architecture (for the Teopanzolco Center, Mexico); Oscar Niemeyer Award; and First International Prize at the 2018 Biennial of Architecture in Quito. In 2021, the team was the fourth-place winner at the Al Nouri Mosque Complex competition, organized by UNESCO as part of a larger effort to restore the Old City of Mosul, Iraq, following its near total destruction by ISIS. The members of Productora have been actively involved in teaching, both in local universities and internationally. Bedoya has taught or led workshops at Tec de Monterrey, Universidad Iberoamericana, Texas A&M University, and Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture.
