Apply for Summer
Who can Apply?
Undergraduate (typically second-, third-, and fourth-year) students at North American colleges or universities with a 3.0 GPA or higher are invited to apply. A minimum Russian language level equivalent of four college semesters of instruction is required for the fall or spring semester. Independent students and recent graduates are eligible for participation in Summer Language Intensive, but cannot be considered for the semester and year programs. Graduate students are encouraged to apply for our Summer Language Intensive.

All program applicants should begin the application process by creating an account in Bard’s international applicant portal, Studio Abroad. Follow the links above based on the type of program you want to attend.

Application Deadlines

Fall/Academic Year: April 1
Spring Semester: October 1
Summer Language Intensive: February 15

Applications are processed on a rolling basis. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Applicants should receive notification of their admission status within two weeks of completing the application process.

Application Process

1.  Start your online program application.
2.  Read the application guide available within the online system.
3.  Complete the general application form and the program supplement, including essay.
4.  Through the online system, request two academic recommendations.
5.  Through the online system, request one study abroad advisor recommendation.
6.  Request your college transcript(s) be sent to Bard Abroad.
7.  Send your application fee to Bard Abroad. 

Passport and Visa Requirements

At the time of application, students must have a valid passport, be in the process of obtaining a new passport, or be in the process of renewing a current passport. According to Russian visa regulations, passports must be valid for a minimum of eighteen months after the program end date.
