Position Title: GIS Analyst

Location: Washington, DC

Dates and compensation: Full-time starting as soon as possible. Compensation +/- $45,000 based on experience and qualifications, includes generous benefits and paid holidays.

Description: Casey Trees seeks a GIS Analyst in the Technical Services and Research Department (TS&R). The incumbent provides training, support and mapping solutions to the organization and constituents. The ideal candidate is proficient in ArcGIS for desktop and extensions, with an eye for effective map design; possesses good interpersonal and communication skills; functions well in a fast paced close-knit team setting, and; has a genuine interest in Casey Trees’ mission.

Responsibilities: · Fulfills map requests in a timely, professional fashion. · Develops new mapping styles and tools to suit individual users and groups. · Performs analysis on large datasets and runs queries as they arise. · Creates and manages Enterprise Geodatabases across the organization. · Maintains data collection hardware; updates software as needed (iPads, iPhones, PCs). · Engages in continual process improvement to help advance Casey Trees mission. · Manages the Casey Trees IOS tree-tracking application. · Performs weekly tree inventories in and fixes problems as they arise to combat errors. · Provides GIS training and support organization-wide on an individual and group basis · Submits articles and content to Casey Trees newsletter, Blog, and other forums. · Curates native DC, MD, and VA geographic data for users within the organization. · Performs GIS software installations on workstations organization-wide as well as interfaces with ESRI for account maintenance, support, and development opportunities. · Codes using Python, VBA, and SQL to automate tasks.

Qualifications: · B.S. degree (M.S. preferred) in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field. · Highly proficient with ArcGIS for Desktop and extensions. · Programming experience in Python and SQL and ArcGIS Server desired. · Ability to work at a quick pace and troubleshoot in a timely manner.
