Contact Tracing Opportunities and Volunteering
What is Contact Tracing?
Contact tracing is the process of identifying and calling people who may have come into contact with people infected with Covid-19 and the collection of information that will help prevent the spread of disease. Governor Cuomo has stated that he is "raising an army" of contact tracers in New York State (NYS). This is an extraordinarily important project enabling the collection and analysis of critical data as our communities find ways to manage the disease. Identifying people willing to either apply for or volunteer for contact tracing positions is one of the most critical steps toward reaching NYS requirements for regional openings.
Join the Volunteer Campus Delivery Crew
Students have organized a volunteer crew to help deliver packages and meals to those in self-isolation. Those in the Bard community interested in helping should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Virtual Civic Engagement
Community Needs and Opportunities
The Center for Civic Engagement is working to organize virtual volunteer opportunities with local organizations such as nursing homes, so students can Skype in musical performances to residents and engage remotely in other ways. If you’re interested in participating in virtual civic engagement, please fill out this brief form regarding community needs and opportunities to help or email email@example.com.
Support the Bard Student Emergency Fund
The Bard Student Emergency Fund supports students requiring materials or resources to complete their studies remotely. The College accepts monetary gifts for the Fund as well as donations of new Chromebooks or gently used laptop computers that have been factory reset or that have operating systems freshly reinstalled. Laptop donations can dropped off at the Anne Cox Chambers Alumni/ae Center.
This fund helps to ensure that all Bard students can continue the semester, regardless of circumstance. Please consider making a gift today.
