Tips and Best Practices
Dos and Don'ts of Virtual Events
DO turn off your audio:
For whatever event, meeting, etc. that you join online, always make sure to turn off or disable your audio. This will help center the session on whatever the event is/whoever is speaking or presenting.
DO make sure that you're fully clothed:
You're not the only person in the virtual room. Make sure that you're covered if you plan to be on-screen!
DO have fun:
Drop in on virtual events offered by the College or by your fellow peers!
do - tell us your ideas about what you would like to see
do- spread the word #BardConnects
do- think creatively about ways to engage
do- think about the community and how you can take a lead by being active
do- have fun
do - stay in touch because we miss you!
DON'T have flashing lights:
In compliance with ADA requirements, no flashing lights are permitted in any virtual event.
DON'T violate community standards:
We are committed to providing events for everyone. Chats will be monitored and you will be removed from the event if your behavior goes against our Community Standards outlined in the Bard Student Handbook.
Stay Connected with Zoom
Zoom is a great video chat option for connecting students, staff, and faculty. Zoom supports up to 100 participants in each meeting. To start a meeting, go to the Zoom page, sign up, and click Join a Meeting or Host a Meeting.
