Bard Conservatory Vocal Arts Program Mourns Loss of Voice Teacher, Sanford Sylvan

The Vocal Arts Program and entire Bard Conservatory community mourn the sudden passing of Sanford Sylvan, beloved faculty member, mentor, colleague and friend.  His unique gifts as a teacher and artist, so generously shared with his students and fellow faculty, will enable his spirit to live on in all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Mr. Sylvan was a singing artist of extraordinary insight whose performances were known both for their sensitivity and their expressive power. He was also a beloved teacher—at Bard, at Tanglewood and at Juilliard—who brought enormous dedication and generosity of spirit to his work with students, and to his dealings with all his colleagues.

Information about a memorial event at Bard will be announced soon.
