Bard High School Early College - Manhattan, a partnership between Bard College and the New York City Department of Education, invites applications for a full-time short-term faculty position in Theater, beginning as early as October 28th and running through December 2, 2024.
BHSEC, a national model in the field of public school reform, enables talented and highly motivated students to move in four years from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College as well as a high school diploma. The academic program emphasizes small class size and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body.
The successful candidate will cover an upcoming leave of absence and would be responsible for providing continuity for students enrolled in two high school classes (Intro to Theater) and two college classes (Public Speaking and Theater Production).
Additional Responsibilities:
Communicate regularly with administrators, parents and other stakeholders about student progress and engagement.

Start Date: As early as October 28, 2024
Duration: Five Weeks (beginning as early as October 28th and running through December 2, 2024)
Compensation: Approximately $10,000
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will
- be actively engaged in theater and have experience teaching.
- be a skilled educator with a demonstrated interest in engaging and challenging students of diverse racial backgrounds, economic backgrounds, and a variety of approaches to learning and/or needs for learning supports
- have an interest in working with high school age students who are completing a college-level course of study
- have a commitment to advancing equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic backgrounds
