About Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Queens
Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Queens, a partnership of Bard College and the New York City Department of Education (NYDOE), invites applications for either a full- or part-time leave replacement position in Computer Science. BHSEC, a national model in the field of public-school reform, provides talented and highly motivated students the opportunity to move in four years from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning an associate of arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College as well as a high school diploma. The academic program emphasizes small class size and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body in a liberal arts environment.

The Computer Science program at BHSEC Queens cultivates in students a deep understanding of the foundational concepts in computer science and the programming languages to creatively express those concepts. Experience teaching students between the ages of 14 and 18, a commitment to scholarship, and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body are desirable. Interest in working with high school age students who are also completing a college-level course of study is needed. We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to equity and social justice and desire to open up opportunities for underrepresented students. Certification to teach in NYC public schools is preferred, a background check is required.
Compensation: The compensation for teaching these classes is based on the NYC DOE salary scale for long-term substitutes. Application review will begin immediately and will proceed until the position is filled.

Location: Bard High School Early College, Queens, NY campus
Start Date: May 2022 (short-term employment for 6 weeks)
Preference will be given to those who can teach in-person but remote teaching is possible
