Biography:Helena Sedlácková Gibbs’s fields of interest include literature, politics, and Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis. In addition to teaching courses in First-Year Seminar and other academic programs, she serves as support coordinator for the Office of International Student and Scholar Services. Honors include fellowships from the Remarque Institute, Mellon Foundation, American Council of Learned Societies, and International Research & Exchanges Board, and the Anaïs Nin Scholarship, New York University. She previously taught at New York University, Columbia University, Independent British Institute (Brasilia), and Cultura Inglesa (Brasilia). She has been a member of the Après-Coup Psychoanalytic Association, New York, since 1989.
