If you have a love of literature and language, a keen respect for the written word, and an inquiring mind, then read on! Shaye Areheart, Director of the Columbia Publishing Course and a former editor at Crown Publishers, will be hosting an on-campus information session about the multitude of career options in book, magazine, and digital publishing. Hear about what you can do NOW to prepare for the publishing job market. Attendees will also learn more about the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism's Columbia Publishing Course, an intensive introduction to all aspects of publishing, from evaluations of manuscripts to the sales and marketing of finished products. Geared to recent college graduates and culminating in a job fair, the course also includes extensive preparation for the job market. This one-of-a-kind program has launched the careers of hundreds of distinguished editors, literary agents, and publishers in its 72-year history. Recent graduates have landed with Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Elle, Scholastic, GQ, New York magazine, Vice, and Time Inc., to name a few. Students are also encouraged to apply to CPC's new sister program at Exeter College, Oxford.
