Center for Curatorial Studies Presents
Speaker Series: Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy - "Kits"
Tuesday, November 18, 2025
CCS Bard, Classroom 102
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm EST/GMT-5
In a show-and-tell presentation style, Sofía unpacks a curatorial toolkit that is in the making. In that process, she references collaborations with a number of artists, curators, and designers, including Goda Budvytytė, Alejandro Cesarco, Sarah Demeuse, Bernardo de Souza, Mario García Torres, Inés Katzenstein, Iris Kensmil, Jessy Koeiman, Irene Kopelman, Raimundas Malasauskas, Manuel Raeder, and Team Thursday, among others. People attending this program are encouraged to bring a tool; to briefly speak about it; to share it with the group. Take note that tools, as much as retooling, are used here to link art with public engagement. Consider tools that were newly acquired. Shared tools. Borrowed ones. Basic tools. Tools to replace; to forget about; to invent.5:00 pm – 7:00 pm EST/GMT-5
Each semester CCS Bard hosts a program of lectures by leading artists, curators, art historians, and critics, situating the school and museum’s concerns within the larger context of contemporary art production and discourse. Speakers are selected primarily by second-year graduate students and also by faculty and staff. All lectures are free and open, and are documented through audio recordings that reside in the CCS Bard Library and Archives and online here.
