The Belly Is a Garden
Tuesday, September 6, 2022
Bard Farm
5:00 pm – 7:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
5:00 pm – 7:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
An evening of harvesting, storytelling, and cooking at the Bard Farm with Rebecca Yoshino and Vivien Sansour, Palestinian seed keeper, chef, and artist. Register now.
Inspired by the Arabic saying, el batin bustan, participants will be introduced to the diverse food crops in the garden as a model of diversity and form of health and strength. How does one plot of land produce such a multitude of color and variety? How do these varieties interact with each other to support and enhance their blossoming?
We will be harvesting crops, engaging in food preparation, and collectively cooking a menu that will be led by the farmer and the cook. As we cook up biodiversity on our plates, we will be led into a storytelling engagement that will deepen our understanding of the relationship between who we are, the terrain, and the plants we are eating.
Please come prepared to be in the garden and get your shoes and clothes dirty. This is a hands and hearts on workshop.
