Body Marginalization Film - Participants Needed!
TBD
Short film about body marginalization and body relationships needs participants!
Hi all!I am currently working on a film that aims to inform, educate, and share the stories of individuals who have complex relationships with their bodies or have experienced body marginalization.
The first thing society sees about an individual is their physical appearance. Our bodies shape how we interact with other people, form relationships, access different spaces, and live in the world. Society’s expectations of people’s bodies are constantly portrayed in modern culture’s media, politics, academia, medicine, and more. For many, these spaces are exclusionary, marginalizing certain people whose bodies do not conform to society’s ever-growing expectations of the ideal human image.
I would like participants who are willing to intimately and openly share their personal experiences with body marginalization. This project will ask participants to be vulnerable – but all filming and interviews will be conducted in a safe and respectful environment. I hope to create a filming experience that is a collaborative effort with all who are involved (participants’ appearance and identity may stay anonymous if one chooses).
I am looking for individuals who have been affected by fattism, weightism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, ageism, racism, sexism, or any/all exclusionary and discriminatory thought/action. I would like individuals of all backgrounds and experiences to feel comfortable in this project. I believe that everyone’s story deserves to be heard!
If you have any questions or interest in this project – please email me at [email protected] and share with your friends! I will provide friendship and homemade cookies to those who agree to help. Thank you!
