Sayler / Morris (Susannah Sayler and Edward Morris) will discuss their photographic and film work representing landscapes of the Anthropocene.2:00 pm – 3:20 pm EDT/GMT-4
Sayler / Morris work with a variety of media to deepen understanding of ecology. In 2020, they initiated Toolshed, a new platform for collaborative work that connects ecological thinking with ecological doing. From 2006 to 2020 they co-directed The Canary Project, a collective that produced art and media about the climate crisis. Sayler/Morris have been awarded fellowships and awards including The David Brower Art/Act Award (2016), New York Artist Fellowship (2016), the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship (2014), the Loeb Fellowship (2008-09). Their work has been exhibited broadly in the U.S. and abroad, including the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Their archives are collected by the Nevada Museum of Art / Reno, Center for Art and Environment. They currently teach in the Transmedia Department at Syracuse University, where they co-direct The Canary Lab.
