Sustainability Consulting: Evolving Opportunities to Become a Change Agent

Sustainable Business Series in Durham, NC
WeWork One City Center   5:30 pm – 7:30 pm EST/GMT-5

You hear the term Sustainability Consulting and think, "Sounds like an interesting job. Can I do it? Should I do it?"

According to Hunter Lovins, “Sustainability consultants, at their best, make the case for radical innovation. They can push a company to take steps that may be unpopular but that make solid business sense, and that address the fundamental roots of environmental and social challenges.” What skill sets are required to drive this kind of change? What are the different types of opportunities in sustainability consulting?
Hear from leading sustainability consultant Laura Gitman about careers helping organizations along their sustainability journey. She'll be joined by Bard MBA in Sustainability students and alumni who also work in sustainability consulting.
Laura Gitman is Chief Operating Officer of BSR, a global non-profit consulting firm that develops sustainable business strategies for its 250+ member companies. Laura a global expert on corporate sustainability, with two decades of experience in strategy consulting and has advised senior executives at global companies across a range of industry sectors and sustainability issues. She also teaches Bard MBA's NYCLab course in which students undertake a yearlong consulting engagement with a real world client.

 About this Event

While trust in our institutions is on the decline, business is being looked to for solutions to issues from climate change to immigration and criminal justice. Employees are also leading the charge, leading petitions, staging walkouts and introducing shareholder proposals, asking CEOs to take a public stance and lead the charge. This new wave of employee activism may be a tipping point to achieve a more sustainable future. Join Clinical Professor of Marketing, Jorge Fontanez, of the Bard MBA in Sustainability Program in conversation with Jennifer Brown, an award-winning diversity and inclusion consultant and author.
