8:30 am – 11:30 am EST/GMT-5
"There is nothing mushy about care. It is the resilient back bone of human life." —Nel Noddings8:30 am – 11:30 am EST/GMT-5
This conference lifts up the amazing people who make up the care infrastructure on Bard's campus and in our community. The event also illuminates care as an essential pedagogy and ethics that can guide our teaching practice and our lives, and help us learn to care with excellence (including caring for ourselves).
This is a free event, but seating will be limited and you must register in advance. Breakfast will be provided.
Carol Murray, director of the Abigail Lundquist Botstein Nursery School at Bard, will give the welcome address. International guest speaker and Hannah Arendt Center fellow Micah White, Ph.D. will lead a discussion about the theory of social change, and we will be joined by care activists in our community who are working on a campaign for universal care. We will be joined by the Early Childhood Engagement students and the Women in Leadership students.
"There are only four kinds of people in the world - those who have been caregivers, those who are caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who need caregivers." —Rosalyn Carter
