March 2026 Newsletter
Greetings from spring break in Annandale. It's been a long, snowy winter here, which has been great news for the maple syrup business. Student volunteers at Montgomery Place were collecting 100 gallons of sap a day, and the Bard Sugar Shack has been boiling away. This summer, Bard Farm Maple Syrup will be available at the Bard Farm Stand. (Every Thursday, library parking lot, starting June 4th.) Shout out to our amazing Bard Farm Manager and Educator, Rebecca Yoshino.

It's spring break now, but the seniors all seem to be here as Senior Projects (aka SPROJ) are due on Wednesday, April 29th! Remember that feeling?

Last week, three alumni/ae came back to campus for the day for studio visits and to talk to current students about life after Bard. Thank you to Lizzy Chemel ’17, Kerry Downey '02 and Ryan Muller '05 for their time. Next month, the studio arts department welcomes back Juliana Huxtable '10 and Paul Chan MFA '03. Follow @bardstudioarts for all the upcoming shows.

On Tuesday, March 24th, at 12 noon, CCS Bard in collaboration with The Photography Program will present a conversation featuring Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa, Evan Calder Williams, and Lucas Blalock ’02. The talk will center on Wolukau-Wanambwa’s recent exhibition, Scene at Eastman (George Eastman Museum, 2024-25).

On Thursday, April 2nd, the Psychology Program will host the annual Andrew Jay Bernstein '68 Memorial Lecture, featuring Diana T. Sanchez '00, Professor of Psychology at Rutgers University. RSVP here.

Reunion registration opened this week. Thank you to everyone who wrote in asking about it– HERE it is, only 64 days away, May 22-24. 1s and 6s, this is your year.

As an added incentive this year at the Bard College Awards, we will be honoring the iconic and amazing Audrey Smith '78 with the Bardian Award. If you ever needed a key at B&G, or a helping hand, or a sympathetic ear, you know Audrey. Audrey has worked at the College since 1975! (If you want to join us in supporting her, please come to the Bard College Awards Cocktail Reception, Dinner and Ceremony on Friday.)

As always, the students here never cease to amaze me. I just heard that a student, Yana Lahoda '27, is developing a new program to offer a version of the Bard L&T program to high school students across Ukraine. Planning is underway and the program will take place in Kyiv, starting this summer with Bard L&T teachers from across the network!

Happy Spring!

Be seeing you,

Jane

P.S.

Many of our international students are working on finding internships and study programs in New York City in the summer as they are mostly unable to return home. If you are willing to house a student in your home for a few weeks this summer, please let us know.
