Alex Kitnick reviews The Avant-Garde Museum
, a recent anthology–cum–exhibition catalogue edited by Agnieszka Pindera and Jarosław Suchan and published by the Muzeum Sztuki in Lodz, Poland. “[T]he avant-garde museum as a type has never been cogently theorized,” he writes. “This volume is a perfect place to start.” Alex Kitnick is assistant professor of art history and visual culture at Bard College, and a faculty member at Bard’s Center for Curatorial Studies.
