Dear Bardian,
Greetings from the suddenly very chilly Northeast. I'm just about to get on The Wolverine down to attend a reception at Magenta Plains gallery in honor of Barbara Ess (see below for details). Barbara Ess was a real treasure. Bard's faculty, both past and present, are truly amazing. I love perusing the current course list and remembering all those small classes.
You should have recently received an email from Leon, asking for support of the Bard College Fund and all we do in Annandale and beyond. I hope you will take the time to read it and consider becoming a donor, if you are not already. Your college needs everyone, this year especially, at any level.
Did you see the Save the Date for March 26th, 2026? Bard's big NYC fundraiser celebrating 50 Years of Innovation and Excellence and honoring Leon's FIFTY years of leadership. More information coming, and a chance for you to participate!*
As always, this time in the fall brings the ever popular ISO Cultural Show. It's at the Fisher Center, Sunday, November 23 (7-9pm) and it's open to the public. If you were in one of these shows send us a photo. It's without a doubt the most highly attended student event on campus. Maybe I will see you there?
Bard Early College New Orleans, the Bard Early College network, and the Bard College Office of Alumni/ae Affairs invite you to join fellow Bardians at Turtle Bay for Crescent City Connections on December 18 from 6 to 8pm. Register here.
Hope you have a good holiday, and come back soon!

P.S.
|
It's Giving Tuesday on December 2nd and we have a match!
P.P.S. BardWorks NYC is January 23rd, please save the date for the reception 5:30-7:00pm, New York Law School. Students want to meet YOU!
*This year we are not holding the annual Bard Holiday Party in December, instead we are focusing on bringing as many alumni/ae as possible to participate.

BoG Stories
|
Every month a different member of the Board of Governors is asked to contribute to our Triangle newsletter. This month Peter Criswell '89 shares his Bard story.

Serving on the Bard College Alumni Association Board of Governors, including a term as President, keeps me connected to a place that shaped my thinking, my career, and my commitment to public service. As Chair of the Ulster County Legislature (recently reelected to my fourth term) and Executive Director of the Ulster County Historical Society, I carry Bard's values into my daily work. The Board offers me meaningful ways to give back to a place that has given me so much: I mentor students, participate in BardWorks, and engage directly with the Bard community at events and forums. This past year, I had the opportunity to speak to First-Year Seminar students about voting and local political participation, and was a guest speaker at the Center for Civic Engagement's All Politics Is Local class—I got to talk politics and hang out with brilliant students. Inspiring.
