Prentiss Cooper ’29 Wins Hannah Arendt Center Student Contest

Prentiss Cooper ’29, a first year student at Bard College, has been selected as the winner of the Hannah Arendt Center’s contest for student journalism coverage of its annual conference JOY: Loving the World in Dark Times. Cooper, a North Carolina native, is passionate about social justice, history, and music. He plays drums, guitar, and bass as well as hosts a weekly radio show on WXBC discussing the history of rock and alternative music on college campuses. Cooper will receive a $500 award for his winning coverage of the Arendt conference, and his essay will be featured in the Arendt Center’s weekly newsletter, Amor Mundi. Honorable mentions were also awarded to Juan Ignacio Cáceres, a first-year student in the Bachelor’s degree program in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Montevideo, Uruguay, for an essay, and Adriana Ondrejka ’26, joint majoring in Historical and French studies at Bard, for a video animating interviews from the conference. They will each receive a $50 award.
