Organization Overview

The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of conservation volunteers,is seeking an experienced, quality oriented outdoor leader to supervise a team of young adults responsible for completing restoration projects for the Desert Restoration Corps. SCA’s Desert Restoration Corps has been working in the Mojave desert in Southern California since 1999 and has a long history of challenging, rewarding and successful programing. Our restoration work is accomplished using a variety of techniques including, but not limited to, vertical mulching, horizontal mulching, hard barriers, fencing, rider education and route signing. Restoration sites are located on Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC), Limited Use areas, and Wilderness areas administered by the Bureau of Land Management. A majority of the restoration work is related to mitigation of illegal OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) use. SCA’s restoration efforts help revive a fragile and often neglected ecosystem while at the same time working to ensure responsible OHV use of public lands through rider education efforts.
