Organization Overview

he Yale Program in Spatial Biodiveristy Science and Conservation (SBSC) – under the auspices of the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies (YIBS) – aims to provide a platform for intellectual exchange,  training and scholarly excellence for researchesr and students in this area. We are poised to capitalize on the new opportunities in spatial biodiversity science, conservation and global change. This Program aims to support Yale’s leadership in addressing some of the most timely and important research challenges of the day. By pooling and strengthening capacities and more fully realizing our interdisciplinary potential we expect to strengthen the formation and success of both individual and group projects in biodiversity and conservation at Yale.

Description

The Map of Life project (www.mappinglife.org) is seeking a qualified candidate to join their international team to help oversee the management (and analysis) of species distribution information and associated metadata. Strong background in GIS, spatial analysis and database administration are key (with experience in e.g. Python and postgres), as are strong interpersonal and communication skills.
