Position Purpose:

Annually over 800 people volunteer to assist with Cascade events and programs. The Volunteer Coordinator helps fill Cascade’s volunteer needs, acts as the main point of contact for volunteers, and leads appreciation events to thank all of the fantastic volunteers.

The Volunteer Coordinator is a member of the Membership and Outreach team but will work closely with the Events team and other staff members as needs arise.

Key Responsibilities:

The volunteer coordinator is responsible for managing the volunteer program including volunteer recruitment, conducting volunteer orientations, placing volunteers in appropriate positions, maintaining a volunteer database, and training and supporting staff members who coordinate volunteers.

Cascade has a number of large events throughout the year that requires coordination of hundreds of volunteers. Due to the demand, the volunteer coordinator is required to be onsite for nearly all Cascade events. Additionally, the volunteer coordinator is responsible for coordinating with the communications team to recruit volunteers through Cascade Bicycle Club’s regular communication channels, external postings and outreach events.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Experience managing volunteers

• Ability and willingness to work frequent early mornings, evenings, and weekends at our events with commensurate time-off during the week.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent customer service skills; able to interface well with public and work effectively with multiple stakeholders on numerous projects.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Flexible, hard-working, self-starter. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently. Must meet deadlines, be attentive to detail, and have the ability to manage multiple projects.

• Experience working and/or producing events.

• WA State Driver’s License.

• Keen interest in cycling a plus!

Employment Specifics:

• Full-time, salaried position with frequent evening and weekend work required.

• Reports to and is supervised by Membership and Outreach Director.
