Position Title: Loewy-Mohonk Preserve Liaison Fellowship

Location: New Paltz, New York

Hours: Full-time, June through mid-August 2015

Application Deadline: December 31, 2014

Description: The Mohonk Preserve will award fellowships for 2015 to conduct research projects related to priorities of the Preserve’s Land Management Plan. A total of $10,000 is available for 2015 Loewy-Mohonk Preserve Fellowships, made possible through funding from the Loewy Family Foundation. Faculty and graduate students are eligible to apply. Housing is available on-site.

Proposals will be evaluated in terms of their contribution to land management planning at the Mohonk Preserve and the use of the Mohonk Preserve as a research site. A committee of Conservation Science staff and members of the Conservation Science Committee will review the proposals and make recommendations. Successful applicants will become Research Associates of the Mohonk Preserve.

Awards will be announced on January 31, 2015.

Responsibilities: A written progress report must be submitted half-way through the funding period and a written final report, at the end of the funding period. The stipend will be made in three payouts:

  1. at the start of the funding period
  2. at submission of the half-way progress report
  3. at the submission and acceptance of the final report.

Any publications resulting from this project must acknowledge support by the Mohonk Preserve and the Loewy Family Foundation. Original data and copies of any publications should be submitted to the Mohonk Preserve.

The following items must be included in the application:

  • Cover Sheet form
  • Project Description (limit of four pages)
  • Proposed budget and justification for personnel, travel, supplies and materials, other costs, and total project cost. Overhead will not be funded.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Two letters of support
