Dates: A time commitment of at least 50 hours within a 3 month time frame

Description: Groundwork Portland offers internships for school credit and/or personal educational development. We are currently expanding our internship program and are recruiting for several different internships. Internships can begin and end at any point.

We are currently accepting applications for several internship positions, the descriptions of which will be posted here within the month:

• Social Media and Communications Intern
• Emerson Street Garden Intern
• Environmental Justice Research Intern
• Community Engagement Intern
• Program Support Intern

We are looking for individuals with the following skills and/or experience:

• Bi-cultural or muti-cultural competency and/or experienceor
• Experience working with diverse populations including communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities and low-income communitiesand
• Understanding of environmental justice and social justice or a willingness to learn

We are also looking for individuals with skills and/or a willingness to learn in the following area’s:

• Community development
• Environmental and public health
• Food justice, permaculture and gardening
• Community organizing
• Fundraising
• Event planning
• Communications (including social media)
• Research skills
• Organizational/administrative skills

Examples of Intern Projects

• Facilitating workshops at Emerson Street Garden
• Organizing events such as our annual fundraiser and volunteer appreciation event
• Organizing meetings and call downs
• Facilitating open house gardening at Emerson Street Garden
• Updating social media and website
• Outreach to various communities
• Technical assistance in various areas such as engineering, grantwriting and website design
