Description: Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is seeking an Ocean Conservation Program intern to conduct a variety of research, writing, and administrative tasks to enrich and promote the advocacy work of its Ocean Conservation program. The Ocean Conservation Program intern will primarily assist with creating original content and conducting social media outreach for blogs managed by the Ocean Conservation Program that foster informed discussion about New England ocean issues. He or she will also be expected to complete a variety of other tasks, including researching and writing blog and website content for CLF’s organization-wide blog, the CLF Scoop; conducting additional research projects of interest to the Ocean Conservation Program staff; and assisting with occasional administrative tasks to increase the organization and efficiency of the Ocean Conservation team.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and draft blog posts for publication on New England Ocean Odyssey,Talking Fish, and the CLF Scoop;
  • Use social media tools to market blog content and track views and sharing;
  • Assist with research on a variety of ocean-related topics that are of mutual interest to the Ocean Conservation Program staff and the Ocean Program intern;
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including indexing press clips and documents and assisting with file organization.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred major in ocean or marine studies
  • Exceptional research, analytical, organizational, and writing skills;
  • A strong and demonstrated interest in environmental advocacy and policy, preferably including a basic understanding of fisheries management and ocean conservation issues;
  • Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite and social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter; knowledge of WordPress content management system and Adobe Photoshop is a plus, but not required;
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative;
