Description

Organic Valley is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Sustainability Program Mananger. The Sustainability Program Manager is responsible for initiation, developing and managing co-op wide sustainability programs. The Sustainability Program manager will lead and team with others to reduce our overall ecological footprint as well as strengthen our social and economic endeavors through a programmatic approach. They will assist in goal setting and long range planning for the continual improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Sustainability Department including programs and staff.
  • Identify and lead research initiatives for both Organic Valley and the industry as a whole.
  • Manage and develop the Sustainability Departmental budget.
  • Develop proposals and manage projects related to the Sustainability Department.
  • Policy writing for integration of ecological practices into all departments.
  • Manage the multiple initiatives with key partners within the industry around sustainability.
  • Evaluate, calculate and track return on investment in Sustainability.
  • Monitor latest best practices in sustainability.
  • Initiate and oversee grant opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing to create the best messaging and public relations vehicles.
  • Lead the executive Sustainability Committee.
  • Communicate expectations by evaluating performance, providing timely feedback, training and coaching, and recommending personnel actions for assigned staff.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in implementing sustainability programs/projects.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage staff and motivate others.
  • Comfortable with interacting and communicating at the Executive level.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to keep up on emerging topics in sustainability.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools in sustainability and renewable energy systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self starter and independent thinker.
  • Goal setting and long-term planning knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work in office and travel as needed.
