Policy Internship

The BlueGreen Alliance’s San Francisco office is seeking a smart, organized, energetic person with strong research and communications skills to assist BGA’s national Policy Director. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth for a talented individual committed to clean energy and social equity issues.

Work will primarily consist of research and policy analysis, as well as writing and editing various documents on clean energy policy and good job creation through sustainable economic development. The applicant may be asked to attend meetings to take notes. Some administrative support functions will also be part of the job.

This position will be unpaid and temporary beginning in September and ending in December. A minimum commitment of 24 hours per week is required, though if more time can be volunteered that will be to the applicants advantage. We prefer applicants that can commit to a regular and consistent schedule. We are willing to work with academic institutions for credit eligibility considerations. The internship will be based in our San Francisco office.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent skills in the areas of research as well as written and oral communication. Quantitative analysis skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of public policy issues in fields’ of labor, energy or the environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
  • A strong commitment to BGA’s mission and principles.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but any applicant with the requisite communication and research skills will be considered.
  • Experience with policy analysis is highly desirable.
  • Experience with labor organizations or prior non-profit work is also desirable.

  • Working 7-8 hours seated at a desk and using a computer
  • Occasionally lifting 10-20 lb boxes or equipment
  • Taking public transportation
