National Climate Seminar: Latest Research on Ocean Acidification

Gretchen Hofmann, Professor of Marine Biology and Ecology at UC Santa Barbara

Professor Gretchen Hofmann, a marine ecophysiologist, joined the National Climate Seminar to discuss the latest research on ocean acidification. Dr. Hofmann is the Director of the Center for the Study of Ocean Acidification and Ocean Change, a UC-multicampus initiative. Dr. Hofmann is a member of California’s Ocean Protection Council’s recently formed Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia Science Panel and has served as a U.S. delegate to the IPCC Workshop on Ocean Acidification in Okinawa, Japan. Dr. Hofmann contributed to the National Research Council’s recent report and recommendations on ocean acidification policy to be completed in early 2014, she is an Aldo Leopold Fellow (2009), and works to communicate her science to broad audiences.
